What is Breakout EDU?

Breakout EDU is a game-based learning platform that uses interactive digital challenges and hands-on experiences to teach and reinforce academic content. Students work together to solve puzzles that require them to apply their content knowledge in real time, moving beyond simple quiz-based recall. It fits seamlessly into everyday instruction, giving educators an engaging way to support standards and improve student outcomes through active, applied learning.

We don’t push students to get the right answer faster. We challenge them to think, problem-solve, and understand the path to the answer—together.

Lock of the Day is a daily, singular, digital puzzle.

Designed to be completed in 5 minutes or less, Lock of the Day is a daily, singular, digital puzzle that can be used to start class as a bellringer, offer a mid-lesson brain break, end class as an exit ticket, or even serve as an activity for students who finish sooner than others.

Each puzzle ignites curiosity by allowing students to explore different subjects in a dynamic and immersive way. Our student performance reports allow teachers to quickly view which students complete the puzzle and which ones may need additional support.

"Our school district uses Breakout EDU on a daily basis with all of our students, kindergarten to 12th grade. I love that it brings so many educational topics to our students in creative, fun and meaningful ways. They LOVE solving the games and love collaborating together. I also appreciate that it gives my teachers such a wonderful platform and resource to extend the learning and make it fun for ALL kids."

Christopher Knox

"I love that it is a fun way to get my students to collaborate and think critically. Many advanced students give up quickly on tasks with which they struggle, but Breakout EDU helps build their ability to persevere. My students consistently report that Breakouts are their favorite activities of the year."

"As a Talent Development teacher, it can be hard to find resources that teachers actually want to use on their own time. I enjoy the ease of use of Breakout EDU games and how it is an easy support and resource for classroom teachers. I am able to give them access to the games that they find easy to incorporate during their class time. I love that I can find and use games based on specific standards to support classroom instruction."

"Breakout EDU gives everyone in the class a chance to show off some skill! Some of our students struggle with the content, but because of the way Breakout EDU allows for out-of-the-box thinking, these same students can make connections and solve clues."

"Breakout EDU allows for collaboration between learners that we all dream about as educators. The innate ways students talk out ideas, support other learners, and keep trying are truly not matched with other educational experiences."

"One of my favorite things about Breakout EDU is that it pulls even the most reluctant learners into the fray, making it impossible to be a passive player, meaning that every single student learns when Breakout EDU is involved."

"Kit-based games are a great way to get our students up and moving! Our students spend a lot of their time on computers and kit-based games encourage them to get up, find the clues, move around, and manipulate things without a screen. It gives our teenagers a chance at 'recess' with content woven in."
